Avatar: What got you interested in game development?
dan48: My interest in game development sprouted when I was playing video games. I believe it was Zelda Ocarina of Time that got me saying to my self, “I just have to create a video game. I just have to.”

About 1 and a half years ago my cousin explained to me that their was a fan game for Pokemon. As many probably are dying for, I am one of the fans for Pokemon Call of Latios and once he showed me that games can be developed, I couldn’t resist looking to create one myself.

Avatar: Which was the first program that you used?
dan48: The first program I used was Rpg Maker Xp. I created my first actual game, Kingdom, using the default graphics, and a few people actually liked it. Of course it put a smile on my face because what we do here, why we make these games is for the entertainment of others and I really want to entertain the gamers here on Pokecommunity.

Avatar: How long have you been developing games?
dan48: I have been developing games for about one year now, maybe a little more or less. I have gotten much better in the past months, and am ready to take on bigger and more challenging projects now.

Avatar: What do you feel that you've learned while working on your previous projects?
dan48: Working on previous projects has taught me many different things. I learned to map better, learned some scripting, and overall learned to commit to something, because usually when I start something I never finish, but I assure you I wont give up on this game.

Avatar: Why did you choose to make a Mario based game?
dan48: I have always loved Mario. Mario is the biggest Video Game Icon next to Zelda. It was one of the first games ever invented, and I believe I have a right to do a Mario game, because I always planned to create one(on a more professional basis) and now I actually can. I am enjoying it a lot as well. If you don’t enjoy working on something, why continue further, because basically all it would be is boring work. This Mario game is gonna have new dangerous adventures, past friends and enemies, along with new ones. I just had to create a Mario game, and I enjoy Mario Rpgs, especially Paper Mario, so I decided to do a sequel.

Avatar: What kind of features will the game have?
dan48: The game will have an awesome Custom Battle System. You will have party members that can use their abilities to help you along your journey. There will be a Custom Menu system, and Title/Game Over screen. It will have music from previous Mario Rpgs.

I am trying to implement action commands so that before a battle you can actually hit the enemy. And when you jump you can jump twice. That sort of battle features.

There will also be a world map and different forms you can turn into further on in the game, such as Fire Mario, Caped Mario, and Metal Mario. There will probably a lot more features put in as I progress toward finishing the game, which is far from now.

Avatar: Do you have an estimate on the progress of the game so far?
dan48: The game is coming along great. I have roughly about 7% done. It is going to be a very long game, about 24 hours of game play is planned, but probably a little less. There is still a lot more to complete in the game, and I ain’t given up no matter what. This is going to be probably my most biggest game yet, so I am gonna do Mario justice in this rpg.

Avatar: Any release date scheduled?
dan48: Yes, but not for a final release. I am planning to release the second demo of Mario Super Star in about 3-4 weeks. I will continue to post screen shots and updates on anything new on the game thread, just to keep awaiting gamers informed. The final release will most likely be in the summer, maybe in June.

Avatar: Any final remarks?
dan48: I hope everyone continues to check out the thread and new updates for Mario Super Star. The first demo is already released for those who don’t know, so just go and check it out. Everyone who has played it has enjoyed it and I believe you all will too. Mario’s newest adventure is far from being over, so continue to check the thread, post a comment or too, and just wait for what is in store for Mario next.
